Old Man, in Love
Old Man across the street
fingers trembling in the scorching heat
feels his pulse quicken
at the sight of the quivering lips
of a youthful beauty dressed in red
should i be stricken he asks himself
is it a crime to fall in love again
since the time I saw my blue-eyed wife
and all those years since we said goodbye
life could be giving me another chance
to dream again and save the last dance
the clock continues its motion
until youth arrives again
young man dressed in brown and black
straight to the old man's attack
little crystals of sweat collect
no more can the old man recollect
why the jealousy, why the sadness
the distant beauty was bound to leave
the wand of youth she can flash
and see men at a distance make a dash
Old Man's heart sinks into a calm
no more has he the right
to consider love a balm.
Liked this. Good imagination.
