The Plan
Meet at the coffee shop
In a shaded spot
Along Labyrinth Lane
You said.
I hung on those words
Of promise and hope
The bee on a flower
I know.
Full frills on the red dress
I wish to wear
Sprout limitless cheer
I find.
A sharp ring stuns the walls
Catches me fearing
The next few moments
I gulp.
My sweaty palm on the receiver
Let it not be that
A postponement a cancellation
I breathe.
Something’s come my way
Urgent very urgent
It needs me right away
You say.
The thing that stops you
It’s like a shadow
What it is I do not know
I think.
The window frames a child
Now no more
With a balloon of sometime ago
It burst.
The cradle is full again
Hot palms rest
On the burning eyes
I feel.
